There were 39,508 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2021 in which 42,939 deaths occurred. This resulted in 12.9 deaths per 100,000 people and 1.37 deaths per 100 million miles traveled.

The average driver in the US can expect to be involved in 3 to 4 car accidents over their lifetime, filing a collision claim approximately every 18 years, with young and elderly drivers being more at risk due to inexperience and susceptibility to injuries, respectively.

Texas is the state with the most car accidents with 4,068 fatal car accidents. California is the second state with the most car accidents with 3,983 fatal car accidents.

In the United States, the most common cause of car crash deaths is driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Other common causes include distracted driving, such as using a cellphone while driving, speeding, reckless driving, and not wearing a seatbelt
  • At Fault - drivers are financially responsible for the collision 
  • No Fault - each driver must file a claim with their own insurance company, no matter who's at-fault.
  • UM/UIM (Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage) - can cover your medical bills and property damage if you're hit by an uninsured or underinsured driver.
  • PIP (Personal Injury Protection) - Covers expenses like medical bills, lost wages or funeral costs after a car accident, no matter who is at fault. 
  • SOL (Statute Of Limitations) - Amount of time one has to file a claim for accident. Time begins on date of accident.

  • If client was compensated for vehicle damage by their insurance company and not bodily, they must be able to show proof of the letter they received with compensation check and must state on letter that funds were for property damage only.
